Isabelle takes part in Crew Welfare Week

The Crew Welfare Week has taken place from 25 to 27 June 2024, exploring the role of the seafarers in shipping. The event was organized by SAFETY4SEA.

Isabelle talked about human sustainability and explained that it is both a social responsibility and a catalyst for innovation in the maritime industry. She emphasized that implementing effective environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices helps companies understand their current standing and adapt as needed. Additionally, she highlighted the importance of a diverse workforce in promoting equity and inclusion within the maritime sector.

In the Panel Crew welfare covers all aspects of ensuring the health, safety, and overall well-being of ship crew members. This includes providing adequate living conditions, promoting physical and mental health initiatives, ensuring fair employment practices, and offering access to essential amenities and support services while at sea. Moderated by Capt. Hari Subramaniam, Regional Head of Business Relations at The Shipowners’ Club, the panel featured the following participants discussing crew welfare: next to Isabelle, there was Erik Green, CEO and Partner at Green-Jakobsen; Capt. Konstantinos G. Karavasilis, Regional Director of Loss Prevention at the UK P&I Club; Kostas Katsoulieris, P&I Claims Director – Greece at NorthStandard; Nikolaos Koletsis, Senior Policy Officer for Maritime Transport at the European Transport Workers’ Federation.
